June Eaglesham – Training and Behavoiur Coach, Director and Founder

Who am I, and more importantly, who is Molly?

I’m June, and my family have lived in the picturesque village of Winchburgh, just west of Edinburgh, since 2008. I live here with my husband Simon, daughter Eva, Lottie the Maine Coon and Darwin the cheeky ginger tom.

Simon and I are both originally from the west coast town of Ayr.  Molly, our little Cavapoo and our new rescue boy, handsome Shadow, the Rough Collie are our dogs. Effervescent little Molly has been my sidekick and partner in crime since she came to live with us at the age of 11 months in August 2013. She is the reason that you are reading this today! This little girl changed my life and I will forever be indebted to her for that. A whirlwind of excitement, sometimes, but taught me how to communicate and connect with dogs on a much deeper level.  Shadow joined us in June 2020, at the age of 8. He is a beautiful boy, as graceful (but somehow also clumsy) as a Rough Collie should be. I have dreamed of having a Rough Collie in my life since I was a little girl, watching Lassie on the television. It is a such a pleasure and privilege to be sharing my life with this boy, who can be reactive and has taught me even more about the importance of understanding and dealing with reactivity.

I have had an affinity with animals all my life and have never been without a pet (or several). When I was a child, Lassie, The Littlest Hobo and Gentle Ben were the characters I loved. I spent a lot of time on a dairy farm as a child – the cows were my friends. My own childhood dog, Shep was a collie cross. He was my brother and my protector.

I have had many cats and rabbits over the years and we kept pet ferrets and pygmy hedgehogs until recently.

Despite my love for animals, my working background was social housing, in a career spanning 23 years. A career that was very challenging and demanding, but could also be highly rewarding. Sadly, due to my own traumas, my mental health deteriorated and my ability to cope with the pressures of working in that world deteriorated to the point of no return after a couple of life-changing events in 2013/2014. I left the world of social housing and became a dogwalker in 2014 – this was a hugely different world. From earning a good, comfortable salary in the corporate world, it took a while to get used to this new way of working.

After illness left me immobile, I was then unable to work for a year. However, following a hip replacement in July 2016, Wee Molly’s Pals was born.

I officially launched the business as a dogwalking/home boarding service on 23 August 2016 and have never looked back.  Since then, I have become a passionate learner of canine behaviour and qualified as an accredited IMDT Trainer in 2018. In 2020 I became qualified with INTODogs and ICAN. My continuous professional development is provided by Empowered Dog and ACE. I am an Empowered Dog student and will shortly be qualified as a Reframing Reactivity Specialist, which brings many new ways and options to help reactive dogs. I attend many courses and workshops each year to ensure my knowledge is up to date and valid and I never stop learning.

This isn’t a job, it’s a way of life. My day is made when I can open a line of communication between dog and guardian. My passion is educating guardians on how OUR actions contribute towards our dog’s behaviour – from jumping on us to reacting to other dogs, our end of the lead is VITAL. Our dogs will only begin to change and respond to us when we understand their needs. I firmly believe in promoting the calm and mutual respect in a dog/guardian relationship.

For your job to be something that you truly love is very powerful and empowering. Come along and join my journey!!
